I.  Midday Meal 
1.  Objectives of the practice:

  • To provide benefit to economically and socially backward students in the college.
  • To attract Students to the college by providing subsidised mid day meals.
  • To improve the nutritional level of Students.

2.  Context :

  • Nutrition is important for students to improve their learning skills and competence.
  • Encouraging students belonging to deprived sections to attend College regularly and help them to concentrate on studies.
  • Mid day meal improve the effectiveness of education by improving the nutritional status of students and thereby reducing malnutrition.
  • The college would like to participate and strengthen ‘Health for all’ scheme of the government. This is also part of the vision and mission of the college.

3.  Practice:

  • Monthly random testing of meals is done by the Mid day Meal Committee  of  the college to make sure that  qualitative food is   provided.

4. Evidence of Success:

  • Reduction in dropouts
  • More students participating in sports and games activities
  • Students are more regular in attending the classes

5. Problems encountered and Resources Required.

  • Problem of  shortage of resources to extend this facility to large number of students
  • Ever increasing prices of inputs such as gas, grocery, vegetables, wages, electricity etc.
II.  Fund Raising  Programme
1.  Objectives of the practice:

  • To provide financial assistance to the needy
  • To  enhance the bond between college and society
  • To create service mentality among the students.

2.  Context :

The College has been doing wonderful task by instilling confidence through education and financial help to the society.  We are now marching together for the betterment of the deprived class of the society with the support of the management, college staff and old students.

3.  Practice:

Since the inception of the college, the college has been organising programmes for physically challenged people and other backward people.  To encourage meritorious students, the management,  staff and old students provide financial help through cash prizes.

4. Evidence of Success:

The efforts of fund raising programme has resulted in the following:

  • Rs. 32,000/- towards the treatment of Mr. Gautham  of  I .B.com (C) class who was suffering from kidney ailment.
  • Donated Rs. 45,492/- towards the medical treatment of former B.A.  student Kum. Vishalakshi on request from her classmates.
  • Contributed Rs. 75,000/- to Indian Association for the Blind.
